Privacy Policy - Personal Smart Spend : Budget
This Privacy Policy explains how Personal Smart Spend : Budget (the “App”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) accesses, collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information.
Personal Smart Spend : Budget is a local-first personal finance application. Most financial records and settings remain on your device. Information is transmitted off your device only when required for a feature you use, such as advertising, optional analytics, optional crash reporting, Google Play billing, support communications, or optional Google Drive backup.
- Your transactions, budgets, goals, accounts, categories, profiles, reminders, and most settings are stored locally on your device.
- We do not operate a server that receives your financial ledger during normal use of the App.
- Google Drive backup is optional and requires you to select a Google account and grant Drive access.
- Optional Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics collection are disabled until you enable them.
- The free version may show Google AdMob advertisements after the applicable advertising-consent process permits ad requests.
- Premium purchases are processed through Google Play. We do not collect your payment-card details.
- We do not sell your personal or sensitive information.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy applies to the Personal Smart Spend : Budget Android App, its in-app Privacy & Consent settings, optional Google Drive backup, support communications, and this hosted privacy-policy page.
This policy does not control services operated independently by Google or another application you choose when exporting, storing, or sharing information.
2. Information Stored Locally on Your Device
Financial and app information
The App may locally store information that you enter or generate, including:
- Expenses, income, transfers, balances, and account records
- Transaction dates, amounts, notes, labels, and descriptions
- Categories, income sources, budgets, and alert thresholds
- Financial goals and goal contributions
- Recurring transaction rules and generated recurring entries
- Profile names and profile-specific financial information
- Dashboard layout, filters, tracking mode, and display settings
- Reminder settings, notification history, and activity logs
- Currency, month-start-day, and other app preferences
- App-lock, hide-balance, and security preferences
Smart Insights and financial summaries are generated from records stored on your device. They are intended as informational app features and are not professional financial, legal, tax, accounting, or investment advice.
Profile photos
If you choose a profile photo, the App accesses the image you select through an Android picker and copies a managed version into local app storage. The App does not require broad access to your photo library.
When included in a backup, the profile image may be resized and re-encoded. Location and camera metadata are not intentionally included in the re-encoded backup image.
Security information
App-lock PIN material, lock settings, and an optional automatic-backup passphrase may be stored using device-protected or platform secure storage where supported.
App-lock PIN material and locally cached Premium-entitlement data are excluded from portable backups.
3. Information Processed or Transmitted Off the Device
Depending on your actions, privacy choices, device configuration, and version of the App, the following information may be processed off your device.
Google Drive and Google Sign-In
- The Google account email address and basic account information returned through Google Sign-In
- Authorization information needed to access app-created Drive files
- Backup files you manually upload or allow the App to upload automatically
- Drive file metadata such as file name, file size, modification time, profile name, internal profile identifier, installation identifier, encryption status, and whether the backup was automatic
Advertising information
Google Mobile Ads may automatically process information such as:
- IP address, which may be used to estimate the device’s general location
- Advertising ID, App Set ID, and other device or account-related identifiers where available
- Ad requests, impressions, clicks, interactions, and video views
- App launches, taps, and other product interactions used for ad measurement
- Diagnostic information such as app launch time, performance, hangs, and energy usage
- Advertising-consent and personalization choices
The App may provide general contextual advertising keywords such as “finance”, “budgeting”, or “personal finance”. We do not intentionally send your transaction amounts, transaction notes, budgets, or financial ledger to AdMob for advertising targeting.
Optional usage analytics
If you enable usage analytics, Firebase Analytics may process:
- Screen views, app sessions, and feature interactions
- Limited app events, such as completion of a CSV export and the number of exported records
- App version, operating-system version, locale, and device model
- Firebase installation and app-instance identifiers
- General location, demographic, or interest information made available by Google based on device settings and applicable consent
Usage analytics are optional and disabled by default. The App does not intentionally include transaction amounts, financial notes, account balances, or complete financial records in developer-defined analytics events.
Optional crash reporting
If you enable crash-report sharing, Firebase Crashlytics may process:
- Crash logs and stack traces
- Relevant application state at the time of a failure
- Device model, operating-system version, and app version
- Crashlytics installation identifiers and session information
- Diagnostic and performance information
- Analytics breadcrumb events when both Analytics and Crashlytics are enabled
Crash reporting is optional and disabled by default. We do not intentionally attach your financial entries, profile photo, transaction notes, or account balances to crash reports.
Google Play billing
When you view, purchase, or restore Premium, Google Play and the App may process:
- Subscription product identifier and displayed price
- Purchase and acknowledgement status
- Purchase token and Google Play-signed purchase information
- Package name and purchase-account entitlement information
Google Play processes payments. We do not receive or store your full payment-card or bank-account details.
Support communications
If you contact us by email, we receive your email address, message, and any screenshots, files, logs, backups, or other information you choose to include.
4. How We Use Information
Information is used to:
- Provide expense tracking and personal finance features
- Store and display your records locally
- Generate budgets, summaries, reports, and Smart Insights
- Save settings, profiles, reminders, and security preferences
- Create, upload, list, download, and restore backups you authorize
- Display and measure advertisements in the free version
- Understand general feature usage when analytics is enabled
- Investigate crashes when crash-report sharing is enabled
- Process, verify, acknowledge, and restore Premium purchases
- Prevent fraud, abuse, invalid traffic, and security incidents
- Respond when you contact us for support
- Comply with applicable legal obligations
We do not use your financial ledger for advertising personalization, and we do not sell your personal or sensitive user data.
5. Google Drive Backup
Google Drive backup is optional. Connecting a Google account does not create a Personal Smart Spend : Budget developer-operated account.
The App requests the limited Google Drive
drive.file permission. The current backup feature uses this
permission only to create, identify, list, update, download, and restore
Drive folders and backup files created by Personal Smart Spend : Budget.
The App creates a visible Personal Smart Spend Backups folder in the selected Google account and maintains a current profile-specific backup for each profile you back up. The App may also identify compatible older backups created by the App.
A backup may contain:
- Your profile’s financial database
- Profile-specific settings and preferences
- Profile name and internal profile identifiers
- A compressed profile photo, if one is configured
- Backup format, creation time, and integrity information
Manual backup runs when you request it. Daily automatic backup runs only after you explicitly enable it. It may run at most once per local calendar day for each active profile when the App opens, resumes, or that profile is selected.
Backups are transferred directly between the App and the Google Drive account you select. We do not receive or view the backup through a developer-operated backup server.
Backup encryption
You may protect a manual or automatic backup with a passphrase. When selected, the backup content is encrypted on the device before upload. Some Drive file metadata, such as the file name, profile name, size, dates, and backup-status properties, remains available to Google Drive even when the backup content is encrypted.
If you enable encrypted automatic backups, the passphrase is stored in platform secure storage on your device so the App can create future backups. You must remember the passphrase to restore the backup on another device. We cannot recover a forgotten passphrase.
If you create a backup without passphrase encryption, anyone who obtains access to the backup file may be able to read its contents. You are responsible for securing unencrypted exported or backup files.
Signing out and deleting Drive backups
Signing out disables automatic backup, removes the automatic-backup passphrase from secure storage, and clears active Drive connection information. Some locally stored backup-history information, such as a previous backup date, file name, size, or last-used account email, may remain until the relevant profile or App data is deleted.
Signing out or uninstalling the App does not delete files already stored in Google Drive. To delete them, open Google Drive and delete the files or the Personal Smart Spend Backups folder. You may separately revoke the App’s Google access through your Google Account permissions.
Google API data-use commitment
Personal Smart Spend : Budget’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy , including the Limited Use requirements.
6. Local Files, Exports, and Sharing
The App may create backup, CSV, PDF, or other export files when you request them. You choose where these files are saved or which application receives them through Android’s picker or share sheet.
If you save or share information through email, messaging, another cloud-storage provider, or another third-party application, that provider processes the information under its own privacy policy.
7. Ads, Consent, Analytics, and Crash Controls
The App may use:
- Google AdMob and Google Mobile Ads
- Google User Messaging Platform for advertising consent
- Firebase Analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics
- Firebase installation and session services
- Google Play services
Depending on your region, device settings, consent choices, and applicable law, advertisements may be personalized, non-personalized, contextual, or limited.
You can manage available controls under Settings > Privacy & Consent, including:
- Usage analytics
- Crash-report sharing
- Whether ads are allowed
- Whether personalized ads are allowed
- Reviewing or refreshing the Google advertising-consent form
The analytics control applies to Firebase Analytics. It does not automatically disable the separate information processing required by AdMob when advertisements are allowed.
8. Premium Subscriptions and Google Play
Personal Smart Spend : Budget may offer Premium subscriptions through Google Play, including monthly or other recurring plans shown in the App.
For Android purchases, the App asks Google Play for purchases owned by the currently signed-in Play account. It validates Google Play-signed purchase information locally using the App’s licensing public key and acknowledges eligible purchases when required.
The App does not send purchase tokens or signed purchase JSON to a developer-operated billing-verification server.
The App may locally store:
- Whether Premium is active
- The active product identifier
- The last verification time
- Google Play-signed purchase JSON, signature, and purchase token required for local verification and limited offline restoration
Premium may remain available for a limited offline period based on a previously verified Google Play purchase. The App must periodically reconnect to Google Play to refresh the purchase state.
Uninstalling the App or deleting local App data does not automatically cancel a Google Play subscription. Subscriptions can be managed through Google Play.
9. Permissions and Device Access
The App may request or use the following Android permissions or device capabilities:
- Notifications: to show reminders, recurring-entry notices, budget alerts, and backup reminders
- Device restart handling: to restore scheduled notifications after a restart or App update
- Biometric or device authentication: to protect app-lock and security actions
- Photo and file pickers: to select a profile image, import a backup, restore data, or save an export
- Internet and network state: for ads, consent, optional telemetry, Google Drive, Google Play billing, and related Google services
- Advertising identifiers and Android advertising services: for advertising, attribution, measurement, and fraud prevention where permitted
- Billing: to offer and restore Premium purchases through Google Play
- Motion sensors: to process accelerometer information locally for the optional double-shake hide-balances gesture
The App uses Android picker flows where possible and is configured to avoid broad photo, video, audio, or external-storage read permissions. Runtime permissions are requested in context when required by Android.
10. Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal or sensitive information.
Information may be processed or shared with service providers only as needed for the functions described in this policy:
- Google AdMob: advertising, attribution, analytics, measurement, and fraud prevention
- Firebase Analytics: optional usage analytics
- Firebase Crashlytics: optional crash diagnostics
- Google Sign-In and Google Drive: optional account connection, backup, and restore
- Google Play: billing, subscription management, entitlement restoration, security, and fraud prevention
- Email provider: support messages you send to us
- Applications selected by you: user-directed exports and shares
We may disclose information under our control if reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, a valid legal process, or to protect users, the App, or others from fraud, abuse, or security threats.
11. Data Retention and Deletion
Local App data
Local records remain on your device until you delete individual records, delete a profile, reset App data, overwrite data through a restore, clear the App’s storage through Android settings, or uninstall the App.
Deleting one profile removes that profile and its managed local data from the device. It does not delete backup files previously exported or uploaded to Google Drive.
Google Drive backups
Google Drive backups remain in the selected Google account until they are replaced or deleted. Signing out, deleting a local profile, resetting the App, or uninstalling the App does not delete the Drive copy.
Exported and shared files
Backup, CSV, PDF, and other exported files remain wherever you save or share them until you delete them from that location or service.
Analytics, advertising, crash, and billing data
Information processed by Google is retained according to Google’s applicable product settings, retention controls, legal requirements, and privacy policies. Disabling an optional feature stops future developer-requested collection through that feature but may not immediately delete information already retained by Google.
Support communications
Support emails and attachments may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to answer your request, maintain support records, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or comply with legal obligations. You may contact us to request deletion of support information under our control, subject to applicable legal exceptions.
12. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical measures appropriate to the App, including:
- Android application sandbox storage
- Disabled Android system backup for internal App data
- Platform secure storage for supported security information
- Optional local app PIN and device authentication
- Optional passphrase encryption for portable backups
- Integrity checks for backup files
- Modern encrypted network connections such as HTTPS/TLS
- Limited Google Drive authorization through
drive.file
Local financial database records are not represented as being independently encrypted merely because they are stored in the Android application sandbox. Device-level protection, such as a secure screen lock and device encryption, remains important.
No electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure. You should protect your device, Google account, backup files, and backup passphrases.
13. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on your location, you may have legal rights relating to personal information, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or withdrawal of consent.
You can generally:
- Disable Firebase Analytics in Privacy & Consent settings
- Disable Firebase Crashlytics in Privacy & Consent settings
- Manage advertising and personalization choices where available
- Control notifications through Android settings
- Reset or delete your Android advertising ID
- Delete individual local records or complete profiles
- Reset all local App data or uninstall the App
- Sign out of Google Drive backup
- Revoke the App’s access through your Google Account
- Delete uploaded backups directly from Google Drive
- Manage or cancel Premium through Google Play
- Contact us regarding support information under our control
The App does not create a separate developer-operated online account. Local profiles are device-local organizational profiles, not online user accounts. Therefore, the Google Play account-deletion requirement for apps that create developer-operated accounts does not apply to these local profiles or to merely connecting an existing Google account for Drive backup.
14. Children’s Privacy
Personal Smart Spend : Budget is not directed to children under 13 or under the minimum age required by applicable law in their jurisdiction.
We do not knowingly use our support channel to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
15. International Processing
Google and other services you choose may process limited technical, advertising, diagnostic, billing, account, or backup information in countries other than your own, according to their terms, privacy policies, and applicable legal safeguards.
Your financial information remains local unless you choose to export, share, or back it up to Google Drive.
16. Third-Party Services and Policies
Relevant third-party information includes:
- Google Privacy Policy
- How Google uses information from apps that use Google services
- Firebase Privacy and Security
- Google API Services User Data Policy
- Google Account third-party connections
- Google Play subscription management
17. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, its SDKs, data handling, legal requirements, or Google Play requirements change.
When this policy changes, we will update the “Last Updated” date and publish the current version through the App and/or the official hosted privacy-policy page.
